HC Deb 17 July 1912 vol 41 cc376-7
37. Mr. JAMES HOPE

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman's attention has been called to the use of misleading legal agreements as disclosed in the recent case of Henry Richardson in the Sheffield Bankruptcy Court; and whether he proposes by legislation or otherwise to take any steps in the matter?

Mr. BUXTON

I have referred to the terms of the house-purchase certificates issued in this case, and I find that the conditions were clearly stated in those certificates. As at present advised, I do not propose to take any action in the matter.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

Perhaps the right hon. Gentleman will remember the very severe comments made by the Registrar in Bankruptcy as to the misleading terms in which these agreements were couched?

Mr. BUXTON

I Stated that I did not think for the moment it would be an advantage to appoint such a Committee.
