HC Deb 17 July 1912 vol 41 cc371-2
27. Mr. CHARLES DUNCAN

asked whether, in sanctioning Grants of money from the Road Board's funds to public authorities any conditions are stipulated on the lines of the Fair-Wages Clause; whether in some county areas the road men receive wages as low as 15s. per week, and that out of these wages they are compelled to find the whole of the implements necessary to such employment?

Mr. MASTERMAN

These Grants are made to public authorities, not to private firms, and the Fair-Wages Resolution does not therefore apply to them. I have no information as to the second part of the question.
