HC Deb 22 February 1912 vol 34 cc741-2
Mr. ALBERT SMITH

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the committee of inquiry into the working of the Workmen's Compensation Act, as promised by his predecessor, will be appointed?

Mr. McKENNA

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which my predecessor gave to a question on this subject on 21st March last. The present Act has only been in force for a little over four and a half years, and I think it is still too early to bring it under review.

Mr. A. SMITH

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that last year the Home Secretary stated explicitly that a committee of inquiry would be appointed?

Mr. McKENNA

I have not had an opportunity so far of inquiring into that, but will do so.
