asked the total income of the primary schools in Ireland for the last available year; and what were the principal sources of and the amounts composing this total?

Mr. RUSSELL

The expenditure on the schools and the payments to the teaching staffs in the case of Irish national schools for the year 1910–11 amounted to £1,688,832 2s. 10d., made up as follows:—From State Grants, Vote for Primary Education, Ireland, £1,468,057 3s. 7d.; Vote for Board of Public Works, Ireland, £78,241 3s. 6d.; from local sources £142,533 15s. 9d.
