HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 cc434-5
Sir CHARLES HENRY

asked whether it is proposed to extend the grant of separation allowance to members of the Territorial Force?

Colonel SEELY

Yes, Sir. It is proposed to include in next year's Estimate provision for the extension of the separation allowance to all married privates who attend camp for the full period of fifteen days.

Colonel YATE

Does that mean the Estimates for 1912 or 1913?

Colonel SEELY

It means this year's Estimates.

Mr. HARRY LAWSON

May I ask whether this will be on exactly the same terms as the Regular Army?

Colonel SEELY

It will be an extension of the present system of separation allowances, and practically in all particulars it will be assimilated to that of the Regular Army.

Major HENDERSON

asked what is the present establishment, and strength of the Territorial Cavalry, Artillery, Infantry, and Departmental Corps?

Mr. CROFT

asked what is the present establishment and strength of the Territorial Cavalry, Artillery, and Infantry?

Colonel SEELY

As the answer to these two questions involves a long string of figures, perhaps the hon. Gentlemen will allow me to circulate it. I am sending them each a copy.

Mr. LLOYD

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether the figures show an improvement or the reverse in the Territorial Force?

Colonel SEELY

The figures for this year show an improvement, but the returns will shortly be issued giving full details.—[See Written Answers this date.]
