asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies has recently been appointed Secretary to the Insurance Commissioners; and, if so, whether the appointment of Mr. W. J. Braithwaite to the same position, as announced by him on 28th November, has been cancelled?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The National Health Insurance Joint Committee at their first meeting on 30th December appointed Mr. W. J. Braithwaite as their Secretary. The English Commission have appointed as their Secretary Mr. Claud Schuster, late Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies.
