HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 cc454-5
Mr. BRUNNER

asked whether the Commissioners of Woods, Forests, and Land Revenues have received complaints in regard to the recent appropriation of alleged common land in the Crown manor of Portland; and, if so, what inquiries have been made or steps taken by the Commissioners in regard to the matter?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Some private lands are unfenced from the common lands of the Manor of Portland, and complaint was received that the owners or occupiers of the private lands had encroached on the common lands. The complaint was investigated by committees appointed at Manorial Courts, and the boundaries were determined by them and reported to subsequent courts. The boundaries so determined were adopted by the Court. They have been in part already marked by boundary stones, and the remainder will be similarly marked shortly.
