HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 c436
Mr. NEWMAN

asked whether the National Insurance Advisory Council, of 3, Northampton Square, E.C., who are prepared, on receipt of a stamped and addressed envelope, to advise inquirers, male or female, desirous of ascertaining their position in the event of the National Insurance Act being brought into operation, are a body appointed by the Insurance Commissioners and responsible to them for any advice or information rendered; and, if so, what is the number of the council and the salary of its members?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Masterman)

The institution in question has no kind of connection with, or authority to speak for, the Insurance Commission.

Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that this institution uses notepaper of a semi-official character, and gives most misleading advice to people who write to them?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I will see if anything can be done in the matter.
