HC Deb 19 February 1912 vol 34 c279
Mr. PETO

asked when the Report of the Commission appointed to inquire into local taxation will be presented to Parliament?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

I regret that I am not in a position to give a date at present.

Viscount HELMSLEY

Is it expected that the Committee will report this year?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

That depends entirely on the view they take. After the evidence has been completed there may be a number of interests which feel that they ought to be allowed an opportunity of presenting their case. I therefore cannot definitely answer that question.

Mr. CASSEL

Has the right hon. Gentleman considered the question—as he promised—of immediately publishing the evidence?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

If the hon. and learned Gentleman will put that question down a day or two hence I will then give an answer.
