§ Mr. PETOasked when the Report of the Commission appointed to inquire into local taxation will be presented to Parliament?
§ The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)I regret that I am not in a position to give a date at present.
§ Viscount HELMSLEYIs it expected that the Committee will report this year?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEThat depends entirely on the view they take. After the evidence has been completed there may be a number of interests which feel that they ought to be allowed an opportunity of presenting their case. I therefore cannot definitely answer that question.
§ Mr. CASSELHas the right hon. Gentleman considered the question—as he promised—of immediately publishing the evidence?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEIf the hon. and learned Gentleman will put that question down a day or two hence I will then give an answer.
