HC Deb 19 December 1912 vol 45 cc1666-7
34. Captain CRAIG

asked whether the Chief Secretary has received a largely signed memorial requesting that the Royal Irish Constabulary Force Fund should be wound up; and, if so, can he state what action, if any, he proposes to take?

Mr. BIRRELL

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply which I gave yesterday to the question addressed to me on this subject by the hon. Member for North Westmeath, when I clearly pointed out that if the Fund is not wound up before the date of the transfer of the Royal Irish Constabulary to the Irish Government it will remain under the control of the National Debt Commissioners, subject to the trusts for which it was created. It is, therefore, perfectly safe, and no one need be anxious about it.

Captain CRAIG

I am quite satisfied about it.
