HC Deb 19 December 1912 vol 45 cc1671-2
46. Mr. NORTON-GRIFFITHS

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of appointing a Minister of Trade and Commerce, with a view to furthering the interests of the trade and commerce of this country?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Asquith)

This is a matter which has been often considered, but I see no reason to depart from the conclusion that has been arrived at that the functions of such a Minister are adequately discharged by the President of the Board of Trade.
