HC Deb 19 December 1912 vol 45 cc1680-1
65. Mr. BARNES

asked if the qualifying period for pensions of the managers and staffs of the Labour Exchanges will count from their appointments or only from the time of their being put on the establishment?

Mr. BUXTON

All questions affecting the dates from which the superannuation of Civil servants accrues are dealt with by the Treasury, and any arrangements for counting services prior to establishment for purposes of pension would be subject to Treasury sanction and the issue of certificates by the Civil Service Commissioners. As was stated, in answer to a question asked by my hon. Friend on 12th December, the establishment of forty-one managers of Labour Exchanges has been sanctioned by the Treasury, and in the case of these officers previous service as managers will be allowed to count. The question of establishing clerks in the Labour Exchange service who have completed two years' service is under consideration.
