HC Deb 19 December 1912 vol 45 c1673
49. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked whether there is any provision in the Government of Ireland Bill to prevent an Order in Council under Clause 47 fixing different appointed days for different parts of Ireland?

The PRIME MINISTER

There is nothing in the Clause referred to which would enable an Order to be made fixing different appointed days for different parts of Ireland.

Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

Would not the phrase, "Different purposes of this Act," cover the point?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am advised not.

55. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Prime Minister whether he will introduce an Amendment into Clause 47 of the Government of Ireland Bill providing that all Orders in Council for the purpose of bringing the Act into operation on different appointed days shall be laid before the Parliament of the United Kingdom?

The PRIME MINISTER

I do not, as at present advised, see any necessity for the proposed Amendment.

58. Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked whether, under the Government of Ireland Bill, it will be possible to have different appointed days for different Irish services; and, if not, what Clause in the Bill prevents such a course being adopted?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The second part of the question does not therefore arise.
