HC Deb 17 December 1912 vol 45 c1300
78. Colonel YATE

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the recent whist drive case, in which a club at Devonshire Hall, Hackney, was prosecuted, and in which the jury trying the case have now failed to agree on two separate occasions, namely, once at last Sessions and again a t this; and whether prosecutions against this form of amusement will now be discontinued?

Mr. McKENNA

There is no intention to pursue further the case to which the hon. and gallant Member refers, but obviously every case that comes under the notice of the police must be considered on its merits.
