HC Deb 11 December 1912 vol 45 c455
68. EARL of RONALDSHAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India if any modification of the Durbar policy is about to be announced by Lord Hardinge; if Lord Hardinge is to resign the office of Viceroy at an early date, and is to be succeeded by Lord Kitchener; and, if so, has he any statement which he can make to the House as to the nature of the modification proposed?

Mr. HAROLD BAKER

The answer to both questions is in the negative.

Sir J. D. REES

Has the hon. Gentleman seen the statement.? in the papers, and is the House to understand that there is no foundation for them?

Mr. BAKER

I have been informed that there are statements in the papers, but I can assure the hon. Member that they are without foundation.
