HC Deb 04 December 1912 vol 44 cc2265-6
6. Mr. MILDMAY

asked whether the prospective rise of pay in the Navy is to be extended to men employed in His Majesty's Coastguard service?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The proposed increase does not extend to the Coastguard, who are saved many expenses—such as house rent—and discomforts which fall on the active service.

Mr. MILDMAY

Will the right hon. Gentleman take into consideraion that the Coastguard men on active service rating at present receive the same rate of pay as the corresponding ranks in the naval service?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Yes; I have taken it very fully into consideration.
