§ 49. Mr. HOGGEasked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of appointing a committee of experts to overhaul the expenditure of all Government Departments with a view to effecting economies in the administration of such Departments?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI beg to remind the hon. Member that the expenditure of Government Departments is now subject to review by two Select Committees of this House—the Public Accounts Committee, and the Estimates Committee, appointed under the Resolution of 17th April last. I am not prepared to consider the appointment of yet another Committee, if that is the suggestion of the hon. Member.
