HC Deb 02 April 1912 vol 36 c1043
Mr. JAMES O'KELLY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland what progress had been made with the sale of Mr. P. Taafe's estate, at Fox-borough, in the county Roscommon, and known to the Congested Districts Board as the Taafe estate, or if the pending sale of the said estate to the Congested Districts Board had been withdrawn; and, if so, on what grounds and by whose advice?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board have made an offer for this estate, but have not yet come to terms with the owner.

Mr. O'DOWD

asked whether Mr. John Woulfe Flanagan, of Billinafad, Boyle, refused to sell his estate situate at Ross, Boyle Union, county Sligo, to the Congested Districts Board; and, if so, whether, in view of the feeling prevailing in the district, the compulsory powers of the Board would be put into operation in order to have a sale effected?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Congested Districts Board are in communication with the owner of this estate regarding purchase, but they are not at present in a position to make any further statement in the matter.
