HC Deb 26 October 1911 vol 30 c282
Mr. WATT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether his Department made purchases of motor cars for use in connection with the Durbar; if so, whether those purchased were of British manufacture or of foreign make; and, if the latter, will he say what advantages they possessed over the Home-made machines?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Montagu)

No motor cars have been purchased in connection with the Durbar by or through the India Office; but the Government of India has purchased directly a number of cars for use in connection with the Durbar. The Secretary of State has no official information as to the make.
