HC Deb 27 November 1911 vol 32 c39
Mr. GOLDMAN

asked whether in any case where a man and his wife are at the same time deposit contributors under the National Insurance Bill he would favour an Amendment which would enable the Post Office accounts to be combined for the joint benefits of these contributors; and, if so, whether he would introduce on Report an Amendment to this effect?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The provisions as to deposit insurance are admittedly of a tentative nature, and I do not see my way to adopt the suggestion made by the hon. Member. The words limiting the application of Clause 39 to a period expiring on 1st January, 1915, secure that Parliament will have adequate opportunity of reconsidering the arrangements at no distant date.
