HC Deb 21 November 1911 vol 31 cc1024-5
Mr. MACPHERSON

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he has received representations against the new rules for the Customs and Excise examination compelling candidates to undergo examination in an additional language and reducing the age limit for candidates from twenty-two to twenty-one; and whether, in fairness to those at present in training for this examination, he will take steps to ensure that these new rules should not take effect for two years?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part I must refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for North Fermanagh on the 13th instant.
