HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 cc813-4
Mr. AMERY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Irish and Scotch reserve values funds will be separate from the English fund; and, if so, in how many years does he estimate that each of them will be redeemed by the deduction of 1 5–9d. from weekly contributions?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. To the latter part I am unable to give a definite reply at present, but the actuaries are now engaged on making a calculation, and I hope to be able to communicate the result to the House shortly.

Mr. AMERY

Will it not be a fact that, the proportion of aged people being greater in Ireland than in England, the period of redemption will be appreciably longer than in this country?

Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman whether he will favour the House with the actuaries' figures?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Yes; I have promised to do so.
