HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 cc812-3
Viscount WOLMER

asked whether persons not ordinarily employed, but who are employed as hop-pickers during three weeks every year, will, whilst so employed, be compelled to become insured persons under the National Insurance Bill; and, if so, what benefits they will get?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Yes, Sir; the employer will have to pay the usual contributions, deducting the employé's contribution from his wages. These will provide persons who work for only a few weeks in the year with sanatorium benefit and medical attendance.
