asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether, in view of the situation in China and the strategical importance of Hong Kong, he will consider the question of the advisability of placing that Colony under the control of a military governor, under arrangements similar to those which now exist in the case of Malta, Bermuda, and such like important oversea naval bases?

His Majesty's Government see no reason for altering the present system of administration.
