HC Deb 20 November 1911 vol 31 cc819-20
Mr. JOHN ROCHE

asked whether, seeing that a public company is obliged to hold a general meeting of its shareholders once at least in every calendar year and not more than fifteen months after the holding of the last preceding general meeting, this obligation has been complied with during the past year in the case of the Cork Free Press Company, Limited; if not, what penalty or penalties have been incurred by the company; and what steps will be taken for the enforcement of such penalty or penalties?

Mr. BUXTON

I have no information at present that the Cork Free Press Company, Limited, has not held an annual general meeting in accordance with the provisions of the Companies (Consolidation) Act, 1908; but if the hon. Member can furnish me with evidence to show that the provisions of the Act have not been complied with it shall receive my careful consideration.
