HC Deb 13 November 1911 vol 31 cc30-1
Mr. HAROLD SMITH

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman has received communications from Manchester asking for a rebate of the petrol tax in respect of petrol used by motor ambulances used for the free conveyance of the poor to and from the various infirmaries; and whether he will take steps to insure that such rebate is granted?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Rebate of duty in respect of motor spirit used by motor ambulances is not provided for under the existing law. My right hon. Friend will consider whether the law on the subject might be amended in this respect.
