HC Deb 30 May 1911 vol 26 cc895-6
Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he would state the American duty on ploughs, harrows, harvesters, cutltivators, etc., if imported from the United Kingdom and Germany, respectively?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Tennant)

The United States duty leviable on these articles on importation from Germany is 15 per cent. ad valorem. They are free of duty on importation from the United Kingdom by virtue of a special Clause in the United States Tariff Act, which accords such freedom of duty when they are imported from any country, dependency, province, or colony which imposes no tax or duty on like articles imported from the United States.

Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY:

How is it that the big revolver has missed fire in this particular case?
