HC Deb 29 May 1911 vol 26 cc682-3
Mr. JAMES O'KELLY

asked the Secretary to the Board of Trade whether his attention had been called to the fact that there are no working-men representatives acting as officers of the Midland Railway Company's Benefit Society, the officials of the benefit society at present being the officials of the Midland Railway Company; and whether he would take steps to inquire into the working of the society?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Buxton)

I presume the hon. Member refers to the Midland Great Western Railway of Ireland Benefit Society. I understand that the rules of this society provide for the appointment by the members of six committee men out of twelve, but I am not aware how far the members may have chosen officers of the company to represent them. The matter does not seem to call for inquiry on the part of the Board of Trade.
