HC Deb 25 May 1911 vol 26 c422
Mr. CHARLES CRAIG

asked whether boycotting of a very serious character was being practised on Arran Island, county Galway; whether he was aware that the Rev. Mr. Farragher, P.P., is the instigator and ringleader in the movement, and that a family named Derrane is the subject of the boycott, and that a determined effort is being made by the Rev. Mr. Farragher to expel every member of the Derrane family from the island; and what steps he proposes to take to protect the Derranes and their friends?

Mr. BIRRELL

I understand that a civil action is pending in this case. The matter is, therefore, sub Judice, and I cannot make any statement with regard to it.

Mr. C. CRAIG

Who is the plaintiff and who is the defendant in this special action?

Mr. BIRRELL

I have no information upon that, but I will ascertain if the hon. Member wishes to know.
