HC Deb 23 May 1911 vol 26 cc134-5
Mr. YOUNGER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can state if any actuarial calculation has been made showing the approximate amount of the annual payments by female contributors under the National Insurance Bill, which would pass into the common fund on the marriage of those contributors?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

I think the hon. Member is under a misapprehension as to the position of a female contributor on marriage. The premiums have been so calculated that the sum standing to her credit on marriage must be retained and accumulated to meet the contingent liability arising in case she re-enters insurance as a widow.
