HC Deb 23 May 1911 vol 26 cc142-3
Viscount WOLMER

asked whether on the occasion of the funeral of King Edward VII. many of the police on duty suffered seriously from want of food, and even from lack of any water for many hours; and whether he has taken steps to secure that more attention shall be paid to this subject at the forthcoming Coronation, so that unnecessary suffering may be obviated by improved arrangements?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Attention is being given to the question of adequate food being available for all police on duty at the Coronation festivities. If on the occasion of King Edward's funeral any police officer suffered seriously from want of food it could only have been through his own disregard of the advice given him to take food with him.
