HC Deb 23 May 1911 vol 26 c123
Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether he is in a position to say if any representations regarding the proposed alteration of the three-mile limit in the Archangel Fishery Bill have been addressed to the Russian Government by any maritime Powers other than Great Britain?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

I am not in a position to say whether such representations have been made.

Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

Is the right hon. Gentleman in a position to make any inquiry on the point with a view to joint action?

Sir E. GREY

Other Powers will state their own views, and when the hon. Member asks me to make inquiries and a statement about their action, I may make inquiries, but I cannot make a statement.

Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider the desirability of extending our own limit?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member should give notice of that question.
