HC Deb 17 May 1911 vol 25 c1982
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the proportion of Irish to British income, as in-cheated by the produce of the Income Tax in the latest financial year for which particulars are available; the estimated proportion of Irish to British gross income; and the estimated proportion of Irish to British surplus income after providing an equal sum per head in both countries for the necessaries of life?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH (Lord of the Treasury)

The proportion of Irish to British income is not accurately indicated by the produce of the Income Tax, which would, of course, only show the proportion of taxable income. I know of no reliable estimate of the proportion of Irish to British gross income.
