HC Deb 15 May 1911 vol 25 cc1628-9
Captain CRAIG

asked why a young lady with no premises of any kind in the town of Laghy, county Donegal, has been appointed to the post office as postmistress, when the assistant and representative of the former postmaster was an applicant for the position and had made arrangements to carry on the office where it had been established for many years past?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The young lady referred to by the hon. Member was appointed because from the reports furnished to me I considered her to be more suitable than the other candidates for the position, and because she offered to provide premises more suitable than those previously available. She is fully qualified in post office duties, having had nearly four years' experience at the Laghy sub-office.
