asked when the second instalment of the one day's rest in seven will be given to the members of the Metropolitan Police Force?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The second installment is now being given from the 1st of April.

Mr. REMNANT

In view of his experience of the last few months can the right hon. Gentleman give us any assurance that the men will be in receipt of this one day's rest in seven before the original estimate of four years has expired?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I do not think I can give any assurance that we shall do more than carry out our intention.
