HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 cc19-20
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Prime Minister whether, before appointing the British secret committee on Ireland's financial relations for the sole benefit of the Cabinet, he received through the usual channel suggestions to include in it Lord Dunraven and Messrs. Sexton and dicks to represent certain Irish interests; whether those gentlemen were asked and declined to act; and, if not, will he say at whose instance they were omitted and only one Irishman appointed on the committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Committee having been finally constituted, it would be unusual and invidious to discuss the reasons why any particular person had not been appointed to serve on it.

Mr. GINNELL

The reasons are not asked in this question. I beg to ask at whose instance these gentlemen were omitted?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have said that it is unusual to discuss the names of persons who may or may not have been submitted for appointment on the Committee.
