HC Deb 01 May 1911 vol 25 cc9-10
Mr. BOLAND

asked the Postmaster-General whether he would take steps to secure that the mail car leaves Caher- civeen for Waterville not later than 9.30 a.m., in order that letters may be obtainable by those who have to leave Waterville at noon in order to travel by the 1.40 train from Caherciveen; and whether, in view of the number of travellers who use this service during the summer months especially, an immediate effort will be made to obviate the inconvenience caused by the recent change in the postal arrangements?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The mail car for Waterville is timed to leave Caherciveen at 9.50 a.m. As the mail train is not due until 9.15 a.m., and an interval of at least thirty-five minutes is necessary for loading and conveying the mails to the office and for sorting them there, an earlier despatch cannot be arranged. I have already expressed my regret that no improvement in the existing postal service in other directions is at present practicable.
