HC Deb 22 March 1911 vol 23 c397
Mr. CLIVE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the proposed Government factory in the Forest of Dean for the distillation of wood and the manufacture of acetate of lime and other chemical products will only supply these products for Government use or sell them also in the open market; and, if the latter, will he guarantee that there shall be no unfair competition with private traders through selling below cost price or without making fair allowance for depreciation, etc.?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The intention is to make a profit; therefore the products will be sold to the best advantage at current market prices.
