HC Deb 20 March 1911 vol 23 c22
Mr. WILLIAM O'BRIEN

asked the Prune Minister whether, in view of his statement that the claim for facilities for an early discussion of the present condition of land purchase in Ireland was a most reasonable one, he can now arrange to give the House an opportunity for adequately discussing the subject?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not at present in a position to make any statement on this subject.

Mr. WILLIAM O'BRIEN

When may we expect some definite announcement from the Prime Minister? Can he not arrange the Irish Estimates in such a way as to enable these questions to be discussed before the Cabinet Committee come to their decision, seeing that this breakdown of finance in Ireland is really now by far the most vital difficulty in connection with Home Rule?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am quite alive to the importance of the matter and its urgency, but I am afraid we cannot possibly have a discussion on the subject before Easter.
