HC Deb 20 March 1911 vol 23 cc21-2
Mr. WILLIAM O'BRIEN

asked the Prime Minister whether the Cabinet Committee, now engaged in an actuarial inquiry into the future financial relations between Great Britain and Ireland, intend to take into consultation representative Irishmen of different sections of opinion, with a view to avoiding the misunderstandings connected with the production of the Irish Councils Bill of 1907?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Asquith)

We are taking into consultation financial experts and other well qualified persons, and are including in the number representatives of different sections of Irish opinion, but the inquiry is one which is being made for our own guidance.

Mr. WILLIAM O'BRIEN

Will the right hon. Gentleman have any objection to saying who are the expert representatives of the different sections of Irish opinion?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will consider it.

Captain CRAIG

Will the right hon. Gentleman take into consideration the steady drop in the price of Irish securities since Home Rule was mentioned by the Government?
