HC Deb 16 March 1911 vol 22 c2450
EARL of RONALDSHAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the announcement made by the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia refusing permission to agents of foreign trusts to transact business in the Commonwealth; and, in view of the extensive operations of foreign trusts in the United Kingdom, despite the presumed safeguard of our Free Trade system, will he consider the propriety of taking similar measures here, with a view to protecting the interests of British consumers?

Mr. BUXTON

I have seen a report of the statement referred to. I am not, as at present advised, prepared to introduce legislation dealing with this matter.
