HC Deb 16 March 1911 vol 22 c2440
Mr. O'GRADY

asked the Chief Secretary if he will state the reason for extra police being drafted into Ballyclare recently when a strike was in progress at the Ballyclare bleach works; and whether he is aware that there had been no violence or breach of the peace to justify such action?

Mr. BIRRELL

Eleven extra police were sent to Ballyclare by the responsible police authorities for the preservation of the peace during the strike referred to. No extra expense to the ratepayers is involved. I am happy to state that no disturbance took place in connection with the strike.
