HC Deb 15 March 1911 vol 22 cc2222-3
Mr. SANDERSON

asked if the right hon. Gentleman will state the number of persons who have paid Super-tax under Section 66 of the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, and the amount produced by such Super-tax during the current financial year?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be in a position to state the yield of this as of other taxes for the current financial year when opening his Budget for the coming year.

Mr. CHIOZZA MONEY

Will the might hon. Gentleman see when the statistics are published that they are properly classified?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I cannot anticipate the statement of the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Mr. SANDERSON

Will he give the number of people paying the Super-tax apart from the amount?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am afraid I am asked so many questions that I cannot remember the details of all of them, but if they are already given there is no necessity to ask them again.

Mr. SANDERSON

That was part of my question.

Mr. HOBHOUSE

And my answer is that the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be in a position to state the yield of this tax when opening his Budget for the coming year.

Mr. SANDERSON

I asked the right hon. Gentleman to give me the number of people who have paid and not the yield?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I do not think I ought to anticipate the statement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
