HC Deb 15 March 1911 vol 22 c2230
Mr. WATT

asked whether the right hon. Gentleman is aware that final notices for Income Tax, Schedule D, have now expired in Glasgow and the West of Scotland, and that costs have been incurred there by those who have not paid in response to these notices, and that in no other part of the Kingdom are costs on this schedule yet incurred; and whether, under these circumstances, he will instruct his Department to delay proceedings until all districts are put on the same footing?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

Final demand notices are issued as occasion requires, and I am informed that no further uniformity of procedure in that respect, beyond what already exists, is called for.

Mr. PRINGLE

Will the right hon. Gentleman undertake to bring the practice into conformity with the practice of Scotland?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I am not sure that they are very much different.
