HC Deb 13 March 1911 vol 22 c1861
Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALD

asked the Home Secretary if he proposes to appoint a woman on the Committee which is to inquire into the management of industrial schools?

Viscount WOLMER

also asked the Home Secretary whether he intends to appoint a Departmental Committee to inquire into the management of reformatory and industrial schools; and, if so, whether he will consider the advisability of nominating one or more women as members of the Committee?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I have always regarded it as essential that two or three women should be appointed on the Committee; and I hope to announce their names, with those of the other members, in a very few days.
