HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 c528
Mr. O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary whether, seeing the condition of secondary education in Ireland, teachers without fixed or adequate salaries, without registration, pensions, or security of tenure, and also considering the growing desire in Ireland since the establishment of the national university, to give better facilities for education to the children of the poor by connecting and linking the three systems, primary, secondary, and university, he will consider the advisability of appointing a small committee to consider and report on the best means of bringing this about?

Mr. BIRRELL

The question of appointing a committee to inquire into the condition of secondary education in Ireland has been under consideration, but I do not think it is likely that a committee will be appointed.
