HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 c528
Mr. O'DONNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he has seen the statement issued by the Commissioners of Intermediate Education, Ireland, at the time of paying results last time, in which they stated that they had to draw on their reserve fund to meet the expenses of the year, and that they could not do so again; and whether, seeing that Ireland is entitled to at least £100,000 per annum from the Imperial Exchequer for secondary education, he will take steps to secure this Grant for Ireland this year?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

I have seen a copy of the statement referred to. I am not in a position to promise that any additional money will be granted this year for Intermediate Education in Ireland.
