HC Deb 02 March 1911 vol 22 c548
Mr. SCANLAN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether his Department have given consideration to the grievances of the preventive men in His Majesty's Customs; whether he was aware that the men in this branch of the service perform their duties efficiently, and that their duties and conditions of work are laborious; and whether, in view of the low standard of their wages at present and the tardiness and irregularity in the course of their promotion, he could promise that their grievances would be looked into and redressed?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to a question on this subject addressed to me yesterday by the Noble Lord the Member for Newton.
