HC Deb 28 June 1911 vol 27 c416
Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention had been drawn to the most recent discoveries with regard to the treatment of phthisis by radio-active menthol iodine; and whether, before embarking on the expense of sanatoria throughout the country, he would carefully consider alternative methods of combating the scourge?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

My attention has been drawn to the treatment referred to, which I understand still to be in an experimental stage. I may point out that the Bill empowers the Insurance Commissioners to expend upon research a part of the whole of the additional State Grant for sanatorium benefit.
