HC Deb 26 July 1911 vol 28 cc1652-3
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he would explain the practice of the Comptroller and Auditor General before certifying accounts as correct; and how he came to certify as correct for 1910 an account of the Intermediate Education Board for Ireland, signed on the face of it by the accounting officer 9th May, 1909?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The account in question, to which the Comptroller and Auditor General's certificate is attached, is correctly dated both in the original and in the copy presented to Parliament. The correct date, viz., 9th May, 1911, was also inserted in the original copy of the Statement of Assets and Liabilities, but owing to a printer's error, which unfortunately escaped detection, this was altered in the published copy. A corrected copy has now been issued.
